Shot Placement
Shot placement is crucial to a quick clean kill. Ever hunter owes it to his quarry to ensure he/she knows where the vitals are. Generally the key area is in the chest of an animal but as you can see in the below diagrams the center of the vitals area maybe higher or lower in the chest. For example if you hit a deer above the midway point of the chest cavity the shot will more than likely be in the upper part of the lungs, but in a hog there is a strong possibilty the shot will be in the muscular area of the shoulder.
